Amiibo cards are making a comeback, and I’m not just talking about the Street Fighter 6 cards that launched with the Switch 2. Nintendo UK has restocked Animal Crossing amiibo card packs from Series 1, 2, 3, 5, and even the adorable Sanrio packs.

These aren’t brand-new releases; the Switch 2 accessories are the same packs as before, as indicated by the old 3DS and Wii U branding on the packaging. However, this is still significant. There are many counterfeit versions out there, and sealed packs often sell for inflated prices on various platforms. Now, you can grab them directly from Nintendo for just £3.49 each, and the timing couldn’t be better.

The UK Nintendo online store has restocked Series 1, Series 2, Series 3, Series 5, and Sanrio card packs for Animal Crossing at their original £3.49 prices. While the ring binders and additional series packs are still out of stock, these authentic packs are worth snagging to add new villagers to your island or for collecting while you can. Series 2: £3.49, Series 3: £3.49, Series 5: £3.49.

With the launch of Animal Crossing New Horizons Switch 2 Edition and the Version 3.0 update last month, my obsession with the series and amiibo card collecting has reignited. Nintendo even produced official ring binders for these cards, and I have them all, though I’m missing quite a few cards as it became harder to find the packs over time.

I quickly added these restocks to my Nintendo shop basket to fill those gaps, but I’m not sure how long they’ll last. I managed to grab a couple of packs from each available series and one pack of the Sanrio cards, which are priced a bit higher at £4.99 each. I expect these will be snatched up by resellers, especially since the English Sanrio packs are hard to find.

Just a week ago, I was considering picking up some new cards to invite fresh villagers to my updated island, but only the Japanese Sanrio packs were available on UK Amazon, priced at £9.93 each—almost double their MSRP. It’s been years since they were first released for Animal Crossing New Leaf, so I understand the price hike. Older packs of popular card games, like Pokémon TCG, tend to increase in value over time. That’s why it’s such a relief to see any of them back in stock at the official Nintendo online store.

While these cards were originally intended for the older game, they work perfectly fine with New Horizons. Some characters may not be useful, especially those like Sable who already live on your island. When using the Nook Stop, tapping those cards may trigger a “can’t be invited to the campsite” warning. However, villagers like Tiffany are available, and these cards can be a great way to invite your favorite characters without spending any Nook miles.

Unfortunately, the Sanrio cards don’t allow you to invite Hello Kitty and friends to your island, which is a bummer. However, they do unlock adorable Sanrio-themed items that you can obtain through the Nook Stop machine in the Residents’ Services building.

The Animal Crossing amiibo card packs are currently only available at Nintendo UK, so players in the US will have to wait. Some series, like Series 5 and the Sanrio packs, are on back order, which may lead to slower delivery times. But I’d much rather deal with that than inflated prices or counterfeit cards.
