Harrison Ford Reflects on 60-Year Career, Calls Shrinking a Fitting Finale: “What Comes Next?”

Harrison Ford has expressed that he wouldn’t mind if his career concluded after his role in the Apple TV comedy-drama Shrinking, which he describes as a “very special” and nurturing experience.

“Where do you go from here? The kind of work we’re able to do is remarkable given the tools we have, and the concept behind this series,” Ford shared during an Apple TV press day panel. “If it all ended here, that would be enough. This has been a different kind of job for me, and I’ve been in this industry for a long time. It’s very special and truly nurtures me, making me feel that what we’re doing has value and importance. I seek that in my life, and I’m grateful to have found it here.”

The series features Jason Segel as Jimmy, a grieving therapist who begins to drop the formalities and speak his mind to clients, which is, well, a bit unethical. Ford plays Paul, a fellow therapist and colleague, with whom he shares a tumultuous relationship. Created by Segel, Ted Lasso showrunner Bill Lawrence, and writer Brett Goldstein, the cast also includes Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley.

Ford’s career began in 1964, skyrocketing to fame as Han Solo in 1977’s Star Wars. He later became the iconic Indiana Jones and starred in the Blade Runner franchise. Since the premiere of Shrinking in 2023, Ford has garnered several accolades, including his first Emmy nomination. A fourth season was announced last month.
