In Nioh 3, you’ll face a choice between Samurai Attire and Ninja Attire at the end of the tutorial, allowing you to select the style that best fits your spirit, Kusanagi. By this point, you’ll have experienced both the Ninja and Samurai abilities, but the impact of this choice isn’t entirely clear. Let’s break down how it affects your journey in Nioh 3.

Opt for the attire that aligns with your preferred playstyle. If you’re on the fence, I recommend the Ninja attire, as the boost to Skill tends to enhance the damage output of most weapons more effectively.

To clarify, both Strength and Skill increase weapon damage in Nioh 3, but Skill generally has a greater impact across the majority of weapons. While Strength enhances Ki damage, which is beneficial, it’s not as universally applicable.

In the end, this choice is a minor boost to one of two stats that you can enhance with each level-up. You’ll also receive a Guardian Spirit tailored to your Ninja or Samurai style, offering various passive buffs. However, don’t get too attached; you’ll likely replace that Guardian early on as you progress.
