In Nioh 3, Revenant’s Malice comes into play when you defeat the Revenants of other players. But what does it signify, and how does it connect to the elusive Bloodedge Demon scattered throughout the game? This leads players to a challenging boss fight packed with loot, though the game doesn’t lay it all out clearly. Let’s break down the link between Revenant’s Malice and the Bloodedge Demon, along with strategies to take down the latter.

When you defeat a Revenant—the Red Spirit left behind by other players or certain NPCs in Nioh 3—you’ll see a message stating, “the direction of the Revenant’s malice has been marked on the map.” At the same time, red lights will rise from the fallen spirit and drift away. These lights guide you toward the Bloodedge Demon, an optional but formidable boss encounter. A red arrow will also appear on your map, indicating the direction to follow.

While Revenants offer their own rewards—like Glory currency and Ochoko Cups for summoning allies—they also point you toward the Bloodedge Demon.

The Bloodedge Demon spawns once a day in real life at a random location on the map. You’ll receive a notification when it appears, but finding it is up to you. To locate it, defeat Revenants and use the arrows on your map marked by their Malice to triangulate the Demon’s position. It’s usually not hard to spot once you’re nearby, often appearing in open areas or clearings, frequently surrounded by other Revenant graves.

The spawn point for the Bloodedge Demon is marked by a tall, glowing purple fire surrounded by several katanas stuck into the ground, resembling a more dramatic version of a standard Revenant grave. To trigger its appearance, simply approach the grave and interact with it—but be prepared for a tough fight.

The Bloodedge Demon is a powerful miniboss that seems to scale with the player’s level. It’s an aggressive foe that wields four katanas in rapid succession and can unleash various ranged elemental attacks if you keep your distance. Here are some tips:

Defeating the Bloodedge Demon can reward you with up to ten pieces of high-rarity Nioh 3 weapons and equipment at your level, along with a Bloodedge Demon Soul Core, Umbracite, and the Bloodedge Demon’s Blood—valuable items for Forging and Reforging. You’ll also earn a significant amount of XP, ensuring at least one level-up, making this encounter both challenging and rewarding.
