Resident Evil Requiem Amiibo: Leon Gets a Surprising Makeover
If you’re ever in need of a showcase for the brilliance of human creativity, look no further than stunning sculptures and statues that capture the human form, like Michelangelo’s David or Rodin’s masterpieces. However, these iconic works aren’t mass-produced for gamers to snag and use on their Nintendo systems to unlock cosmetics. Enter the Leon Kennedy amiibo from Resident Evil Requiem, which, while lacking the finesse of fine art, manages to achieve something noteworthy: it somehow makes the beloved zombie-slaying hero look less than appealing.
Requiem for the dead. A nightmare for the living. Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy are set to join the amiibo lineup in summer 2026.
Amiibo will be sold separately.
The Grace Ashcroft figure isn’t much of an improvement either. Both figures resemble cheap wedding cake toppers. Amiibos usually feature more stylized designs, typical of Nintendo’s characters, so they often don’t require intricate detailing. However, Resident Evil Requiem is a photorealistic game that would benefit from more attention to detail in its figures. The faces of these characters are so generic that without Leon’s signature swooping hair, I might struggle to recognize him. And believe me, I’ve scrutinized his face for years. Where’s the scruff that shows his age?
“Reading the comments feels like I’m taking crazy pills, but I must admit I’m not familiar with amiibo and their usual quality,” one user noted. “Are they always this… rough? I think these look pretty bad, especially Leon. Like one of those bad Switch ports.”
“Grace seems nice, Leon a little less so,” another user chimed in.
At the very least, the existence of a Leon amiibo—albeit a goofy-looking one—provides plenty of material for jokes, even if many share the same punchline.

Hopefully, these amiibo won’t carry the hefty $40+ price tag and will instead fall in the $15-20 range. Both figures are set to release after Requiem, which launches on February 27, with the amiibo arriving in the summer.
