For Fallout fans, there’s hope on the horizon! While the recent countdown may have ended in disappointment, reports indicate that a Fallout 3 remaster is still in the works. Bethesda is reportedly focused on ensuring the upgrade meets the quality standards set by Oblivion Remastered, which could be a mixed bag depending on your viewpoint.
The news of a Fallout 3 remaster is becoming widely accepted, with multiple credible sources confirming its development. Tom Warren has added his voice to the chorus, stating, “The game is still in active development, and I understand Bethesda is keen to ensure it’s as well polished as the surprise release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered last year.”
However, aiming for the same level of polish as Oblivion Remastered might not be the highest standard. The upgraded version brought stunning visuals to the classic RPG but retained many of the technical issues that plagued the original back in 2006.
Even with frame rate drops and crashes, Oblivion Remastered has enjoyed significant success, suggesting that a Fallout 3 remaster in a similar vein would likely perform just as well. Still, it would be great if it could run a bit smoother.
Since the studio behind Oblivion Remastered also worked on Fallout season 2, it might be worth considering them for remasters of Fallout 3 and New Vegas as well.
