Meet Overwatch’s New Cat Hero: A Jetpack-Wielding Force of Chaos!

I don’t often find myself intimidated in Overwatch, but Jetpack Cat is changing that. This airborne feline hero is exactly what her name suggests: a cat that can soar through the skies, healing allies and causing chaos for enemies. One of her standout abilities is the ability to tether teammates to her jetpack, allowing her to fly them around the battlefield. The strategies and combos players have already discovered during the early access phase are pure mayhem.

I had a chance to try out Jetpack Cat when I explored all five of Overwatch’s new heroes last month. While she might not make it into my regular support lineup, I can’t help but look forward to the outrageous plays that coordinated teams will pull off with her. The tethering mechanic requires teammates to agree to it, so there’s no need to worry about any accidental trolling like with Lifeweaver.

Once tethered, Jetpack Cat can take you anywhere, provided the enemy team doesn’t shoot you down. Her tether isn’t just for allies; it can also grab things like Ashe’s Omnic ultimate B.O.B. as he rains fire on unsuspecting foes, or even D.Va’s mech after she sets it to self-destruct. This gives players a chance to recover from a misstep. Plus, Jetpack Cat’s ultimate allows her to tether to an enemy and drag them off the map or out of a secure area, meaning she can disrupt foes as well as assist friends. The potential for creative plays is vast, and some early players have even used dueling Jetpack Cats to pit teammates against each other in mid-air skirmishes.

Jetpack Cat is set to join the Overwatch roster on February 10, coinciding with a game revamp that will restructure its seasonal rollout to include more lore and introduce a total of 10 new heroes over the coming year.
