Larian’s publishing director, Michael Douse, known as Cromwelp/Very AFK on Twitter, is once again in the spotlight.

Following the announcement of the Baldur’s Gate 3 TV adaptation, Douse tweeted about needing a break from social media. He later shared a series of retweets from members of the community expressing their dissatisfaction.

However, Douse later clarified his stance, stating, “I’ve spent the last 8 to 10 years of my life with the writers & creators of Baldur’s Gate 3, and they’re the most incredible storytellers & creators in the space. My only hope is that they receive the credit they deserve and that the characters are represented at the same level as the game.”

He emphasized, “I genuinely don’t think anyone can trump our writers.”

The Baldur’s Gate TV series, penned by Craig Mazin, co-creator of The Last of Us HBO series, will pick up where Baldur’s Gate 3 left off.

Larian’s CEO and founder, Swen Vincke, has indicated that the studio will not be creatively involved or consulting on the project, although Mazin has reached out to them.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is celebrated as one of the greatest games ever, setting a new benchmark for choice-driven narrative RPGs. As of now, it has sold over 20 million copies, while Larian is also developing a new title in its Divinity series.
