It’s official: a Baldur’s Gate 3 adaptation is in the works, and fans are buzzing with excitement about the potential storylines and how they might unfold on screen. With so many possibilities, including insights from Larian’s own Swen Vincke, the anticipation is palpable.

Larian Studios has crafted an RPG masterpiece with multiple paths and endings, leaving fans curious about which narratives the new Baldur’s Gate 3 series will explore. As Vincke notes, that’s part of the excitement.

“It’s wild to think that a story that began in a small hotel conference room has grown into something worthy of an HBO series,” he reflects on the announcement.

“We poured our hearts into making Baldur’s Gate 3 a fitting tribute to its legacy. The characters and stories are the result of collaborative efforts, and I believe everyone involved will find this adaptation exciting and hope it captures the same passion.”

He also discusses the game’s endings, designed to lay the groundwork for future adventures or adaptations.

“The endings of BG3 were crafted to serve as fertile ground for new stories,” Vincke shares. “There are countless directions they could take.” Interestingly, he admits he’s not privy to the specific paths the series will follow.

However, he’s “eager to see which ones” Craig Mazin, known for directing The Last of Us series and now leading the Baldur’s Gate 3 adaptation, “will choose.”

It seems Vincke and the team behind the acclaimed 2023 RPG will have some input in the process, as he mentions that Mazin has “reached out for a chat, giving us a chance to share our thoughts.”

He wraps up with a nod to Divinity, one of Larian’s two upcoming RPGs (the other being a secret project codenamed Excalibur).

“Fingers crossed that the story we’re developing for Divinity reaches similar heights,” Vincke writes. “We’re definitely putting in the work.” As a dedicated Baldur’s Gate 3 fan with over 1,000 hours logged, I have no doubt it will deliver.

Larian’s publishing head jokingly threatens to “crash out” over the Baldur’s Gate TV show but quickly reassures fans with a more balanced perspective: “I don’t think anyone can outshine our writers.”
