In Overwatch news, a new voice actor is giving a well-deserved shoutout to the Reddit community that has been eagerly awaiting the addition of his character for eight long years.
On r/EmreMains, Overwatch fans have been dubbed “hopium huffers” for nearly a decade, holding onto the hope that Emre, a niche character from Overwatch lore, would eventually join the roster. This week, Blizzard confirmed that Emre will indeed be added in season 1, alongside four other heroes. If you haven’t been keeping up, Overwatch is undergoing some significant changes.
As you can imagine, the r/EmreMains community is buzzing with excitement. It’s the hot topic of discussion, and attempts to shift the conversation to Jetpack Cat have been met with resistance.
Kerem Erdinc, the voice actor for Emre, took a moment to congratulate r/EmreMains for their unwavering dedication in a heartfelt video message shared on the subreddit, creating a truly wholesome moment.
“I just wanted to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the r/EmreMains subreddit for eight years of dedication and patience in waiting for what you have wanted, and I want to let you know that I’ve been right there with you for these last eight years, and the wait is finally over,” Erdinc expressed. “Search and destroy,” he added in character.
Erdinc seems like a genuinely good person, engaging with both English and Turkish-speaking members of the Emre community in the comments, sharing insights and celebrating the moment together.
Emre is designed as a straightforward damage character with a health regeneration passive and a burst rifle as his primary weapon. He appears to be a solid choice for beginners, though it remains to be seen how he will perform at higher levels of play.
