In recent news, the developer of Horses, Santa Ragione, has called out an executive from Epic Games for making what they describe as “provably incorrect” statements regarding their surreal horror game, which faced bans on several storefronts last year.
The Italian studio found itself in a tough spot when Steam blocked the release of Horses, and the Epic Games Store followed suit. This loss of access to a significant portion of PC gamers has raised concerns about the studio’s ability to fund future projects, according to their producer.
In a conversation with an outlet, Epic Games vice president Steve Allison expressed admiration for the studio but stated that the ban stemmed from content that “was against our policies on a couple fronts.”
Santa Ragione responded on social media, asserting that Epic’s claims about the game’s content were incorrect, and criticized the lack of transparency regarding their decisions. They noted that the game is available for viewing on platforms like YouTube and Twitch without issue, and can be purchased on other storefronts, arguing that it does not warrant an Adults Only rating.
After five years, a lead at GOG reflected on the challenging decision to remove the cult horror game Devotion from their store, describing it as a situation that remains difficult to process.
