Dropout Takes the Lead by Releasing Top Content on Blu-ray

Dropout CEO and frequent show host Sam Reich has announced that the first two seasons of the comedy game show Game Changer are now available for order on Blu-ray.

Game Changer is one of the original productions from Dropout, which started as CollegeHumor’s streaming service. The show debuted its first season in 2019, just before the company rebranded from CollegeHumor to Dropout. True to its name, Game Changer features a different game each episode, with contestants unaware of the rules until the show begins. The first season includes the episode “Make Some Noise,” which later became its own series. Season 2 features “Do I Hear $1?”, where Ally Beardsley, Grant O’Brien, and Raph Chestang go to great lengths for cash, along with the infamous “Yes or No,” designed to frustrate American Girl doll creator Brennan Lee Mulligan.

“Digital media is fantastic. Without it, bathroom breaks would be dull,” Reich quips in the announcement video. He points out that the online-only format of many streaming shows risks them fading into obscurity. The solution? Physical media, which Dropout is exploring by releasing Blu-rays, a move that many streaming services have abandoned despite the demand for physical copies of popular titles.

Reich mentions that this release is a trial for the company, so it’s quite basic, lacking special features or commentaries. If the Blu-ray performs well, it could pave the way for more Game Changer or other Dropout shows to hit shelves. Previous seasons of Game Changer and other series like Very Important People have included behind-the-scenes content, and extended versions of those features would be a great addition to a future special features disc.

The Game Changer Blu-ray collection is priced at $28 in the Dropout store. New merchandise also includes a Game Changer Loop-De-Loop blanket, Game Changer slippers, and a pin celebrating Jacob Wysocki’s viral “You are a regular guy” moment from a recent episode of Make Some Noise.
