Apple may enable ChatGPT access through CarPlay.

CarPlay users might soon have the option to interact with their favorite chatbots instead of relying solely on Siri. Reports indicate that Apple is working on integrating voice control support for apps from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others into CarPlay. Previously, accessing third-party chatbots required going through an iPhone, but soon, users could engage with ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini directly through CarPlay.

However, it seems Apple will not allow users to replace the Siri button or the wake word that activates the service. This means users will still need to manually launch their chosen chatbot app. Developers will have the ability to configure their apps to automatically enter voice mode upon opening, which could enhance the overall user experience.

The introduction of third-party chatbots in CarPlay is expected to roll out in the coming months, although there hasn’t been an official announcement yet. This potential update follows Apple’s recent news that Google Gemini will be the driving force behind an upgraded version of Siri, set to debut later this year.
