GOG is developing native support for Linux.

GOG has recently announced a job opening for a senior software engineer dedicated to bringing its Galaxy desktop client to Linux. In a response during a Reddit AMA, the GOG team confirmed that development for native Linux support is already in progress.

While it’s still too early to provide a timeline, founder and CEO Michał Kiciński expressed his enthusiasm for Linux, stating, “personally, I’m a big fan of Linux.” The job listing emphasizes Linux as the “next major frontier” in gaming, highlighting its growing significance in the PC gaming scene, especially as users become increasingly frustrated with Windows’ relentless integration of unwanted AI features.

Kiciński shared limited details about GOG’s future plans but noted:
> “We’re at a very early stage right now, but we of course see the rising popularity and importance of this OS for gamers and agree on its value. We’ve started the recruitment process for a Senior Engineer who would help handle it. When it comes to specifics, we can’t share much at the moment. Nonetheless, the work has started, and this will appear on GOG one day. That much we can say.”
