Sony has officially confirmed that the anticipated State of Play presentation is happening this week.
According to the PlayStation Blog, State of Play will return on Thursday, February 12 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM GMT, streaming live on PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels. This showcase is set to be one of the largest yet, boasting a substantial 60-minute runtime—typically reserved for major events like the PlayStation Showcase.
While specific titles haven’t been announced, Sony mentions that February’s State of Play will highlight exciting third-party and indie games coming to PS5, along with updates from PlayStation Studios.
Expect familiar faces like Capcom and Sega to make an appearance. Titles like Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Stranger than Heaven have been notably absent from recent showcases. Square Enix is also likely to show up, hopefully providing updates on Kingdom Hearts 4. And if Konami could unveil Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2, that would be fantastic.
On the first-party side, it would be great to see more of Marathon, Saros, and Marvel’s Wolverine—all set for release this year. We might finally catch a glimpse of what Bluepoint Games has been working on since their acquisition by Sony. And remember Fairgame$? It could make an appearance this time around too. Plus, Hideo Kojima has been working on a trailer, so a PC port of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach seems like a strong possibility.
With Wolverine set to redefine superhero gaming in 2026, here are four features I’m eager to see and four I hope to avoid.
