If you were left wanting more from Ron Perlman’s brief role as an unnamed Supermutant in Fallout season 2, showrunner Geneva Robertson-Dworet assures fans that this character has a significant future ahead.

In a conversation following the season 2 finale, Robertson-Dworet hinted that Perlman’s Supermutant will return after a cameo in episode 6. “Just because he appears in one scene this season, I hope people know that he is a larger character in this world, in our minds,” she stated. Perlman is also known for delivering the iconic line “War never changes” in Fallout 3’s opening cutscene.

“We’re hoping to have the opportunity to continue this story,” Robertson-Dworet added. “We like the idea of hinting at larger wars and conflicts in this world that may not be centered in the wasteland where our characters currently are, and exploring those elements.”

The character’s introduction in season 2 marked the first appearance of a hulking, green-skinned Supermutant in the Fallout TV series. In the episode, the Supermutant saves The Ghoul, who finds himself impaled after being thrown out of a window by Lucy. However, this act isn’t purely selfless, as the Supermutant later tells The Ghoul: “There’s a war coming. And we need you healthy.” Could we see a future alliance between The Ghoul and the Supermutant?

Fallout recently concluded its second season on Prime Video. In an exclusive chat, Robertson-Dworet and executive producer Todd Howard discussed how the major twists from season 2 might impact video game lore. Fallout season 3 is already confirmed, with season 2 hinting at a new setting: Colorado.
