Given its popularity, it’s easy to envision Arc Raiders diving into various crossovers for skins like Fortnite or Call of Duty. However, developer Embark Studios is committed to keeping everything grounded within the game’s universe, no matter how it evolves.

“First and foremost, we want to ensure that everything aligns with the fiction of Arc Raiders,” says Patrick Söderlund, CEO of Embark. “There are other successful games out there, like The Finals, where the IP is designed to be very flexible. You can do whatever you want.”

The Finals, Embark’s debut title, is an FPS set in a VR arena that allows for extensive customization. Yet, as IP collaborations become more common, Arc Raiders aims to follow a more structured approach, similar to Battlefield 6, focusing on its own unique narrative.

“Arc Raiders has a more curated lore and world, so we need to adhere to certain boundaries more than games like The Finals or Fortnite, where anything can happen,” he explains. “That’s not the vision for our game.”

Fortnite represents the extreme end of the spectrum, with entire seasons dedicated to other franchises, turning skins into a collectible experience. Other titles, like Destiny 2 or Hitman, have varying degrees of collaboration.

Söderlund notes that what we’ve seen so far is just “the beginning of the Arc Raiders lore,” with plans to explore what it means to navigate the world of Speranza and its robot-infested landscapes.

“Some elements need to remain original—if there’s a sweet spot for what Arc Raiders is—but we also want to create things that push the boundaries of what the lore and IP can accommodate without straying too far,” he adds.

Arc Raiders’ leadership can see that Embark’s anti-cheat measures are effective, as there’s been “an influx of people trying to reach the studio, and to me.”
