While it’s not the dedicated PvE mode that some might argue would be a misstep, Arc Raiders is diving into PvE with a new limited-time event called Shared Watch.
Quietly announced on social media, Shared Watch will take place from Tuesday, February 10 through Tuesday, February 24, giving players two weeks to engage in some cooperative fun.
With a plea of, “Please stop shooting each other for just 10 minutes,” developer Embark Studios states: “You watch my back, I’ll watch yours – that’s how Speranza keeps ticking.”
Join your fellow Raiders in celebrating Shared Watch; team up with others, focus your fire on the machines, and earn rewards along the way.
Among the rewards is a new baseball umpire-themed outfit called The Slugger. More rewards are expected, though details are still sparse. It’s likely there will be a variety of rewards to set this event apart from the new and permanent Arc trophy case, which also revolves around taking down bots.
At its core, Arc Raiders is a PvPvE game, but it ultimately emphasizes PvE. You can already team up with others to take on Arc at any time; Shared Watch simply adds a little extra motivation and provides an easy way for Embark to cater to the surprisingly large number of players who prefer a more pacifist approach.
For the record, Shared Watch seems to be a minor addition. There’s been talk about Arc Raiders introducing a dedicated PvE mode, but this isn’t it; you can bet that PvP action will continue over the next two weeks. Even as a PvP enthusiast myself, I’ll be packing extra defibs to lend a hand to some random players.
