In exciting news, Deadlock has introduced a charming new hero who specializes in naps and pillow fights, and now Valve has added yet another character to obsess over – a stunning unicorn lady who can bunnyhop.
If you haven’t caught wind of it yet, Celeste has triumphed in the latest community voting (much to the chagrin of Apollo fans) and is joining Deadlock as part of its gradual hero rollout. Six new characters are set to arrive with the massive Old Gods, New Blood update, with Celeste being one of the final two alongside necromancer hero Graves, werewolf-like character Silver, arms expert Venator, and the perpetually sleepy Rem.
So, what unique abilities does Celeste bring? According to her introduction on Steam, she has moves like Light Eater, which allows her to unleash a deep breath ignited by her blazing baton, coating enemies in front of her and increasing damage against them. Her kit also features Dazzling Trick, an explosive shield that silences foes, Radiant Daggers that rain down from above, and Shining Wonder – a particularly lethal orb of light.
Valve continues to impress with these character designs. The baton-spinning shooting animation, the unicorn horn melee attack, and even her Bronx accent? Celeste is bursting with personality!
What’s really got the community buzzing (and a bit anxious) is her movement – and yes, her Bronx accent! A Reddit thread highlights that she has a “NEW YAWK ACCENT” and can strafe and bunnyhop effectively, reminiscent of movement in Counter-Strike 2. One fan aptly notes, “She can bhop like crazy,” while another claims Celeste “has 100% air movement control,” predicting “bhopping montages incoming.”
However, some fans are concerned that this new Deadlock hero might be a tad too powerful. In a separate thread showcasing her impressive moves, one user comments, “This is gonna get nerfed or tuned down in some way,” pointing out that her bhopping is “EXTREMELY overpowered (but also very fun).”
Celeste comes equipped with built-in bhopping mechanics, featuring lower gravity and enhanced air control, allowing for some Counter-Strike-style movement.
Many others are also praising Celeste’s design, with one commenter noting, “Valve just can’t stop cooking.”
I completely agree. Now we just need to see Apollo join the fray with the rest of the six new heroes, and Deadlock’s major Old Gods, New Blood update will be complete. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a unicorn-horned hero to play as.
