Capcom has announced that the poisonous brute wyvern Rompopolo is the least popular monster in Monster Hunter Wilds, prompting the creation of a special quest to entice players with new rewards.

In a recent anniversary message video, Capcom confirmed the development of a “large-scale expansion” for Wilds. Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto shared details about upcoming event quests, including a crossover with Monster Hunter Stories 3 and a chance to earn the winners of the weapon design contest: the Shatterseal great sword and SOS Meating Pendant.

From February 28 to March 19, 2026, a new quest will be available. “After analyzing player data, we identified the least-hunted monster and prepared a limited-time quest for it,” Tsujimoto explained, with Rompopolo being the chosen monster. He cautioned players, “Don’t let your guard down, as this monster has been tuned to be especially challenging for this quest,” marking it as a 10-star mission.

Rompopolo is a large, bird-like creature that can inflate and deflate itself, making it quite a sight to behold. Completing the quest will reward you with unique items, including a lantern, balloon-like trinkets, and the rather bizarre Rompopolo hat, available in both inflated and deflated versions.

Monster Hunter Wilds Steam reviews are improving following Capcom’s latest performance patch.
