In Mewgenics, aside from battling, a key activity is breeding cats. This process allows you to create new warriors with optimized stats and skills, surpassing the strays that appear daily. However, it’s not as simple as it sounds. Mastering the art of cat breeding is crucial as you advance through tougher stages, especially since runs can become increasingly lengthy.
It’s essential to send your kittens to Tink early on to unlock features like tracking your cats’ sexuality, mood, libido, relationships, and more, which will aid in optimizing your breeding strategy.
At the end of each day, cats have a chance to breed with others in the same room, alongside other events like fighting. When breeding occurs, expect one or two kittens, which will need a day to mature before they can join the action.
Initially, with just one room in your house, luck plays a big role, and you might encounter some unwanted mutations due to inbreeding. However, as you progress and upgrade your house by sending retired cats to Frank, you’ll gain more control over your breeding efforts.
Here are some tips to kickstart your breeding journey in Mewgenics:
– Send kittens to Tink early to unlock essential features, such as viewing their base stats and inbreeding status.
– Acquire extra rooms by giving Frank retired cats, allowing you to manage breeding better by placing Stimulation-boosting furniture in a dedicated space for your best cats.
– Avoid keeping kittens in the same room as their parents to prevent inbreeding.
– Focus on breeding cats with higher stats rather than trying to pass on specific abilities, by grouping high-stat cats together in one room for better class distribution.
– Gay cats won’t produce kittens, but their breeding increases the likelihood of gay strays appearing, which can inherit some of their stats and abilities.
– Home stats, particularly Stimulation, are crucial. Higher Stimulation increases the chances of a kitten inheriting the better stat from its parents, so keep any furniture you find.
Each room in your home has five stats that affect your cats’ behavior, influenced by the furniture you place. The higher these stats, the better:
Keep in mind that, aside from Appeal, these stats are unique to each room. For instance, prioritize Stimulation and Comfort in your breeding room by rearranging furniture for optimal placement.
You can acquire more furniture by purchasing items from Baby Jack or discovering Furniture Box items during runs. Just remember not to equip the Furniture Box, as tempting as its bonus armor may be, since it will break upon damage and you won’t get the furniture back when you return home.
In the early game, I set up most of my furniture in the attic as a breeding room, while the ground floor housed the kittens, strays, and other cats I didn’t want to breed. As you unlock more rooms, you can focus on specific stats or classes more effectively.
