In Avowed, the Fort Northreach storage key is conveniently located near the door it unlocks, though it can be easy to miss if you’re not paying attention. While accessing the storage room isn’t essential for your quest, it’s worth it for the armor you’ll find inside. Even if you don’t wear it for long, it can be scrapped for upgrade materials later, which will aid in enhancing your gear. Here’s how to locate the Fort Northreach storage key and use it.

To find the key, pass through the crumbling brick wall into a spacious room featuring a large turquoise crystal. To the right of this crystal, you’ll spot an open square doorway leading outside the fort, and just beside it lies a fallen guard. Loot this body to acquire the Fort Northreach storage key, along with 20 copper skeyts and a common round shield.

Now, head back to the storage room door and unlock it. Inside, you’ll discover a chest containing a common breastplate. While it may not seem like a top-tier reward, sturdy armor will be beneficial for the challenges ahead, so grab it and equip it alongside the shield you took from the guard. This will give you a solid defense boost before the action intensifies. After clearing this room, continue through Fort Northreach, battling more xaurip enemies until you encounter a prisoner named Ilora. Here, you’ll face a choice: free Ilora or leave her behind, each option carrying its own consequences to consider.
