Halle Berry has confirmed that her X-Men character Storm will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday, though it’s hard to say if she would reveal it even if she were involved… Questions about the upcoming Marvel film have surfaced during the press tour for her new thriller Crime 101, where she stars alongside Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo. When asked if the film serves as a “precursor” to the superhero movie, Berry smiled and firmly stated, “Storm’s not there. I promise you. You all think I’m being coy and I’m being silly, but I’m not there.” While Berry might be speaking the truth, fans have reasons to be skeptical: it’s not uncommon for actors to deny their involvement in MCU projects. Before the release of 2021’s multiverse-centric Spider-Man: No Way Home, Andrew Garfield was repeatedly questioned about reprising his role as Peter Parker. He denied it consistently, only for fans to later discover he was indeed part of the film. “I lied to people for a good two years and I lied to the internet for two years, and it felt great,” Garfield shared on a talk show. “It was fun to keep it a secret. It felt like I was organizing a surprise birthday party for a bunch of people who I knew would appreciate it.” Berry’s former X-Men co-stars, including Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen, are also set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, heightening fans’ hopes of seeing more characters from Fox’s early 2000s adaptations alongside icons like Captain America, the Fantastic Four, and the Thunderbolts. But all hope isn’t lost. You know what they say: there’s no smoke without fire, and no thunder without lightning… Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18.
