New Spider-Noir Trailer Unveils a Gritty Take on Spider-Man Featuring Nicolas Cage
Our first real glimpse of the Spider-Man Noir live-action series has arrived. Amazon has dropped two trailers for Spider-Noir, which is set to debut on May 27 on Prime Video. One trailer is presented in “authentic black and white” to capture the essence of classic noir films, while the other showcases “True-Hue Color,” giving a colorized twist to the noir aesthetic. The series will be available in both formats. This Spider-Verse spin-off features Nicolas Cage as a 1930s private investigator, blending traditional film noir with elements reminiscent of Sin City, especially in the black-and-white version. The trailer introduces Cage as Ben Reilly, who transforms into a crime-fighting vigilante. While it doesn’t delve deeply into the plot, it does reveal the supporting cast. Alongside showcasing Cage’s knack for portraying eccentric characters, the trailer includes some classic Spider-Man web-slinging, indicating that Spider-Noir will stay true to the core elements of the franchise. However, it also presents a darker twist on Spidey’s iconic catchphrase: “With no power comes no responsibilities.” Anticipation for Spider-Noir has been building since its announcement in 2023, and excitement has surged recently, especially after a promotional setup at CCXP confirmed that Noir’s alter ego would be “B. Reilly” instead of Peter Parker. Traditionally, Noir is depicted as a grizzled, cynical version of Parker, but it seems showrunner Oren Uziel is steering the series in a new direction. While Tom Holland’s portrayal of Spider-Man has been well-received and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has garnered much praise, fans are eager for a fresh take in live-action. Judging by this latest trailer, Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir is poised to deliver just that. Spider-Noir is scheduled to launch later in 2026 and will be available for streaming on Prime Video.
