The secret area in Act 1 is crucial for progressing through Act 3, while Act 2’s area will grant you access to the final class in the game (check out our Mewgenics collars guide for more info). Here’s how to unlock these areas and tackle the formidable house bosses you’ll encounter. Both challenges require you to defeat bosses, manage tricky items, and reach specific locations to complete certain tasks. It might take some time to figure it all out, or you can streamline the process with my handy guide detailing everything you need to do. If you’re having trouble with any upcoming challenges, my Mewgenics breeding guide can help you get better cats. And if you find yourself in a tough spot, learn how Mewgenics Savescumming works to reset a particularly bad run. After finishing Act 1 of Mewgenics, you’ll trigger a cutscene with a warning: Guillotina is on her way. This introduces the first House Boss, a unique challenge fought with Retired Cats. You’ll need to face her three times, each time earning a quest item essential for unlocking The Throbbing Domain. Here’s what to expect: Once you complete these encounters, you’ll gain access to The Throbbing Domain, but initially, you’ll only find an altar for sacrificing a cat. To fully unlock the area, you need to do one more thing: Take this head to the Throbbing Domain and place it on the sacrificial altar to reveal its secrets. In Act 2 of Mewgenics, the home bosses have a different unlocking mechanism. At the end of both routes, you’ll encounter a monolith obelisk reminiscent of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Defeating The Core will summon Pyrothina, a fire-breathing Kaiju cat (don’t forget to bring water bottles from The Mewgenics desert for this fight), while defeating The Moon will bring forth Zaratana, a large Gamera-like Kaiju. Each Kaiju drops an item needed to activate the monolith. You need to reach The Moon and feed the Burning Orb to The Man on The Moon. To do this, have the cat holding the orb walk in front of the boss’s mouth; once he munches, the boss will be defeated instantly (and your cat will be safe), allowing you to activate the monolith on the moon. The Shard can be charged over multiple runs, but if you die while holding it, it resets. If you have a Necromancer or Hunter, you can sacrifice any low-health familiars to charge it. Once the Shard is charged, it will glow purple. Take it to The Core and attack The Coven with it. This will instantly defeat the boss, allowing you to activate the Monolith at the core. To make things even more chaotic, after defeating both Kaiju, they’ll start fighting each other outside your house, and you’ll need to take down one while avoiding being crushed. Whichever Kaiju wins will drop their collar, and you’ll need to take them to the Monolith on the opposite route from where they spawned. Depending on the Kaiju, you’ll receive one of these: I recommend taking down Pyrothina during the fight, as I find The Crater and The Moon to be significantly tougher than The Bunker and The Core. It took me ages to get Pyrothina through there, especially since the Crater Maker can instantly eliminate her with its devour move. Completing this unlocks The Rift, a wild area with a unique status effect that alters your cats’ abilities. Despite over 100 hours of gameplay, I haven’t yet discovered Act 3’s Home Boss or secret area, but I suspect that after completing both routes, a Home Boss will appear. Defeating them will likely reward you with a special item to unlock a secret area at the end of a run. However, I can’t provide any specifics just yet.
