After conquering the Boneyard stage in Mewgenics, you’ll receive a warning about the looming threat of Guillotina, one of two unique raid bosses. Unlike typical bosses encountered during runs, Guillotina will invade your home. When she arrives, you’ll need to rely on your retired cats to fend her off. If you don’t, she’ll take them out like they’re snacks, and that’s a fate you definitely want to avoid. Here’s how to prepare and ultimately defeat Guillotina. You’ll have seven in-game days to get ready for the boss fight, which you can monitor in the top left corner of your screen while at home. While you can rush to the boss fight by ending days early, it’s much wiser to use that time to prepare, as Guillotina is a formidable opponent. Remember, you can only use four retired cats to battle Guillotina. To maximize your chances, run as many times as possible to build a solid roster of retired cats, prioritizing those with high stats and useful skills. Breeding high-quality retired cats with other strong ones will give you the best chance of success. Keep in mind that cats can engage in fights at night and also mate, so ensure you maintain a high Comfort stat with furniture to reduce the risk of your top contenders taking each other out. During your runs, keep an eye out for items like armor and weapons that can aid you in the fight. With a massive health pool and high damage output, Guillotina will require every advantage you can muster. For class recommendations, aim for a balanced mix of offense and defense to tackle the boss effectively. When the day of the fight arrives, select your best retired cats and place them in the cardboard box as you would for a regular run. You’ll then receive a prompt to defend your home, allowing you to equip gear before the battle begins. Guillotina has four primary attacks that deal significant AoE damage and can knock your cats around. With a staggering 500 health, she can absorb a lot of damage. The best strategy is to spread your cats out to minimize AoE damage and utilize damage-over-time effects (like bleed, fire, or Necromancer’s leeches), along with stuns and crowd control to keep the pressure on. Given her high health and damage, finishing the fight quickly is crucial. High luck and critical hit stats on my Hunter and Fighter made a noticeable difference, allowing me to deal over 50 damage per turn. Here’s how to take down Guillotina: Defeating her will reward you with the Throbbing Gristle quest item, which you can bring to the Wall of Flesh at the end of the Caves—just be careful not to die and lose it. Afterward, speak to Butch, and the four retired cats that defended your home will become ‘ultra’ retired, sporting a shiny glowing crown. While they can’t defend your home again, they can still breed, so it’s worth keeping them around.
