YouTube Launches on Apple Vision Pro
The Apple Vision Pro is set to receive its official visionOS YouTube app this Thursday. This new app will allow users to dive into the full range of YouTube content, including standard videos, Shorts, 3D, 360, and VR180 formats, as confirmed by an Apple representative. Although the Vision Pro debuted over two years ago, it has been without a dedicated YouTube app until now. Initially, YouTube indicated that it had no plans for a native app on the platform. However, shortly after the headset launched, the company reversed its stance, announcing that a Vision Pro app was “on our roadmap.” This announcement came in early February 2024, marking a two-year wait from that point to the upcoming launch. In the meantime, Christian Selig, the creator of the now-defunct Apollo app for Reddit, developed an unofficial YouTube app for the Vision Pro called Juno, which was available at the headset’s launch. However, Apple removed Juno from the App Store in October 2024.
