A Guide to Achieving Nobility in The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy
In The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy, players can embark on a new active career path as a noble, enjoying a life of leisure while navigating the complexities of ruling a kingdom. Your Sim will climb the ranks, dealing with scandals, earning “favor,” and spending plenty of time on the throne.
Becoming a noble isn’t as straightforward as simply selecting ‘Find a Job’ on your phone or computer—those are for the common folk. Instead, there are several unique methods to join the noble ranks, each with varying levels of difficulty and potential costs, sometimes requiring up to 3,000 Simoleons. However, it’s the highest-paying job in the realm, so you’ll recoup your investment in just five days. Here are the three ways to ascend to nobility in The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy:
The first method is quite simple: all you need is the book “The Duchess Diaries: A History of Nobility.” This tome can be found on any bookshelf in Ondarion, or you can purchase it for 20 Simoleons from your bookshelf or a computer. Once you have the book, choose the “Research Noble Legacy” option to dive into the intriguing tales of Duchess Dalina, who faced abdication due to the infamous Mice Rebellion, or Count Steven V, who tried to divide his inheritance among 27 children. These stories hint at the scandals that await you on your path to the throne.
Another route to nobility involves seeking out an established noble. To identify high-ranking nobles, access the Kingdom Manager in the top right corner of the Manage Worlds screen, where you’ll find a list of nobles ranked from highest to lowest. Once you’ve pinpointed a noble of level four or above, visit them and select “Request Knighthood” under the “Friendly” interaction category. This option will be available right away, but you might want to try “Attempt Introduction” first. Keep in mind that they may not be eager to engage, and if they don’t know you, they’re unlikely to grant you knighthood. Building rapport can take time, so consider this a last resort. If you’re up for a challenge, boost your Charisma and Swordsmanship skills and persistently pursue them.
Thrones are a new addition in the Buy/Build mode for Royalty & Legacy and are essential for joining the noble career. There are two types: Majestic and Ornate, priced at 2,500 and 3,000 Simoleons, respectively. After purchasing and placing a throne in your home, interact with it and select “Join Noble Career.”
It’s that straightforward, and honestly, you’ll need a throne for many noble duties, so you’ll want to invest in one eventually. If you’re not ready to spend, you can always visit a noble family’s home in Ondarion and use their throne to start your career.
A sneaky fourth option exists, but it’s not quite what it seems. You can pass your noble title to family members, from spouses to children (teen or older), but they must first join the noble career to inherit it. Once they’re in, they don’t need to climb the ranks; they just have to wait for you to abdicate or pass away to inherit your hard-earned noble status.
If they hold a higher title than the one they’re set to inherit, they’ll keep their current title. Similarly, if they’ve been promised a higher title by someone else, that will take precedence. In any case, you can join the career without doing the heavy lifting. If you don’t promise your title to anyone and lose it (perhaps through extortion), any spouse or child in the noble career can select the throne and “Claim Lost Career Rank.”
Promotion in the noble career also deviates from the usual progression. Your Sim will need to complete tasks and earn ticks to be promotion-ready, but instead of automatic advancement, you must select the throne and choose “Noble Promotion.” From level three onward, you can opt for “Receive Promotion through Coronation Speech” or “Receive Promotion through Coronation Ceremony.”
If you prefer to skip the fanfare, simply select “Noble Promotion,” and it will trigger immediately. For those seeking a quieter royal existence, you can enable automatic career progression in the pack settings menu, and if you meet the qualifications, it will occur at 7 AM.
