Silent Hill: Townfall Unveiled, Introduces Foggy Atmosphere to the UK

During tonight’s PlayStation State of Play, Konami unveiled the latest entry in the Silent Hill series, titled Silent Hill: Townfall. This reveal came shortly after the release of Silent Hill f, and while it was introduced with minimal fanfare, it looks absolutely stunning. The game appears to take place in the eerie, abandoned British village of St. Amelia.

With fog rolling in and a terrified character clutching a radio, it was clear we were in for a classic Silent Hill experience, though it took a moment to fully grasp what we were witnessing. The visuals exude a captivating Lovecraftian vibe that has us excited.

The protagonist, Simon Ordell, seems to be drawn back to St. Amelia, suggesting he’s caught in a recurring cycle. The village is distinctly British, complete with road signs and decor, all in English. Simon’s mission is to “put things right” in this quaint yet unsettling town, shrouded in thick fog. As he delves deeper, driven to uncover his ties to the location and its residents, he begins to unearth fragments of a haunting past.

The setting appears to be around the 1990s, as Simon, who looks to be in his 30s, has a hospital wristband indicating he was born in 1959. This timeline places the game between Silent Hill and Silent Hill 3, roughly 30 years after Silent Hill f.

While no specific release date has been announced beyond 2026, this smaller installment in the franchise has somewhat flown under the radar, especially considering the recent launch of the previous game. Interestingly, it’s being published by the remnants of Annapurna Interactive in collaboration with Konami, and developed by the indie team Screen Burn (formerly No Code), a Scottish studio known for the acclaimed 2019 title Observation. This marks the studio’s most ambitious project yet, and given the quality of both Observation and Stories Untold, there’s plenty of reason to be optimistic.
