Metal Gear Solid 4 Set to Make Its Debut on New Platforms, Leaving PS3 Behind

During Sony’s first State of Play of 2026, Konami unveiled Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol 2, which includes Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

The next installment in Konami’s Metal Gear Solid Master Collection series is set to bring MGS4 to PlayStation 5, launching on August 27.

This upcoming Master Collection Vol 2 also features the HD version of MGS Peace Walker, a fantastic title that deserves more attention. Unlike MGS4, which has remained exclusive to the PS3, Peace Walker has previously been available on platforms like Xbox 360 and PS3. It’s exciting to see it making its way to PS5 alongside MGS4: Guns of the Patriots.

Originally released in 2008, Metal Gear Solid 4 was a PS3 exclusive that showcased the capabilities of Sony’s new console. It served as a grand conclusion to the series, even though it wasn’t the final entry in the franchise. For nearly two decades, MGS4 has been confined to the PS3.

Currently, Konami hasn’t revealed any additional platforms for Master Collection Vol 2. However, the previous collection was available on Xbox and PC as well, so fingers crossed that this new volume follows suit. Either way, it’s time to celebrate—MGS4 is finally making its debut on modern hardware.
