The Marathon server slam event is just around the corner, inviting players on major platforms to explore Tau Ceti IV. As the name suggests, this event aims to stress test Marathon’s servers to ensure a smooth launch experience. Plus, you’ll get to dive into a significant portion of the game, featuring two maps and nearly all the Runners. Here’s everything you need to know about the Marathon server slam, including the schedule, gameplay details, and rewards for participating.

The Marathon server slam runs from February 26 at 6 PM UTC to March 2 at 6 PM UTC.

Unlike previous alpha tests, this server slam doesn’t require sign-ups or pre-orders—anyone on PS5, Xbox Series X, or PC via Steam can jump in for free, with cross-play and cross-save enabled. The official Marathon release date follows shortly on March 5, likely at 6 PM UTC.

Depending on your performance during the Marathon server slam, you’ll earn various reward packs for your account, which will be available on launch day. These rewards include items like Marathon Cores. Here’s what you can earn:

Additionally, if you play Marathon at launch (not during the server slam!) on PS5 with a PS Plus subscription, you’ll receive three exclusive PlayStation-themed weapon charms—one each for Helldivers 2, Death Stranding 2, and Ghost of Yotei.

During the Marathon server slam event, you’ll have access to a slightly expanded experience compared to the April 2025 closed alpha test. You’ll engage in the core extraction shooter gameplay, teaming up with fellow Runners to collect loot, confront or evade the UESC and other players, and attempt to escape with your spoils—or perish in the attempt.
