After some intriguing social media hints from Hideo Kojima, the PC version of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was officially announced during the latest State of Play. This version will include platform-specific features, new modes, and other enhancements for both PC and PS5.
A blog post from Jay Boor, head of publishing at Kojima Productions, hinted at exciting additions. “New modes and features will be coming to both PC and PS5 at launch that will offer players new challenges and rewards,” he stated.
More details will be revealed in March. The first game received a similar upgrade with the director’s cut, introducing new missions, gear, and quality-of-life improvements for a smoother experience.
The mention of “new challenges and rewards” suggests that On The Beach may ramp up the difficulty with additional optional missions for enticing unlockables. However, that’s just speculation, and thankfully, the wait isn’t long. PC players will have the freedom to optimize Sam Bridges’ second journey with upscalers and uncapped framerates.
But it’s not just ports and re-releases in the Death Stranding universe. There are currently three adaptations in the works: two films and an animated series, the latter being a spin-off unrelated to the games.
On top of all this, Kojima is also developing another major PlayStation project, Physint, which remains under wraps, along with OD, a horror game for Xbox. He’s certainly keeping busy. Death Stranding 2 is set to launch on PC on March 19.
In his signature style, Hideo Kojima expresses that his creativity is as essential as eating: “If creativity were taken out of my daily life, I probably wouldn’t survive.”
