In Avowed, you can customize your character’s gear using transmogrification, allowing you to change the appearance of your armor without altering its stats. While you can’t modify your character’s physical features after the initial creation, this system lets you combine optimal stats with stylish looks. Here’s how to change appearances in Avowed for both you and your companions, provided you have outfits for them.

To transmogrify your gear in Avowed, access the Inventory screen and browse your items. You can only alter the look of Armor and Clothing (including gloves and boots), so focus on those. Hover over an item to either Equip it with the Right Trigger or Transmogrify it with the Left Trigger, which will only change the appearance without affecting the stats.

Pay attention to the column on the left of the items, which will display a diamond icon for equipped items and an eye icon for items whose appearance you’re changing through transmog.

If you send the item you’re transmogrifying to your camp stash, its appearance will revert to the default look. Keep in mind that you must retain items you wish to transmogrify in your inventory, as this counts towards your carrying capacity!

While you can’t alter your Envoy’s face after character creation, the game does give you a heads-up before you confirm your character, so make sure to get it right. Your background is fixed, but you can adjust your Avowed Attributes through respecing.

To change your companions’ appearances in Avowed, set up and rest at an Avowed Party Camp. Once there, locate the Main Camp Tent and interact with it to modify your companions’ outfits.

Keep in mind that unless you have the Premium Edition of the game, you may not start with any outfits for your companions. You’ll need to find some during your journey to utilize this feature. If you’re playing Avowed on Game Pass, you can purchase the premium upgrade separately to access these outfits.
