The Avowed Totem of Rightful Rulership will have you exploring every corner of Dawnshore for the pieces you need. This side quest from Sanza may seem like a mere treasure hunt, but these totems are incredibly valuable tools that, when assembled at camp, grant useful buffs. Some clues for these totem pieces can be a bit vague, so if the thought of searching Dawnshore feels overwhelming, I’ve laid out where to find all seven pieces of the Totem of Rightful Rulership in Avowed and what this mystical totem does.

After purchasing this quest from Sanza’s Emporium in the Hightown district of Paradis, you’ll be tasked with locating seven pieces of the Totem of Rightful Rulership scattered throughout Dawnshore. Once you’ve gathered the core, return it to the Totem stand at the Avowed Party Camp. Any Totem pieces you collect can be placed to gain the buffs they provide, which I’ve detailed below.
I also recommend enabling the “Compass – God Shrine Totem Pieces” option in the UI menu, as it’s off by default and will help you pinpoint the Totem pieces more easily. Below are the locations for each piece of the Totem of Rightful Rulership in Avowed:
“The Burned Queen’s totem patiently waits amidst ruins of the heathens she hates.”
Head east out of Paradis and go north. Cross the bridge over the stream and make your way to the Godless ruins that form the Shrine to Woedica. Ascend to the altar to find the Scales of the Oathbinder, the Totem’s Core.
“This golden crown’s stolen gem can be found in the emporium.”
The crown jewel is easy to snag since it’s located in the emporium where you picked up the quest. Facing Sanza’s shop, enter through the large wooden door on the left. The jewel is on a desk straight ahead.
“In Dwarven halls ‘neath mountain shroud, the Strangler’s justice can still be found.”
Travel to the Overgrown Expanse Party Camp in the northwest corner of Dawnshore and head east across the bridge by the waterfall. Follow the path to a ruined wall with some explosive barrels outside. Detonate them to break through the wall and enter Pargrun Castle.
Climb to the top of the castle, defeating skeletons along the way, and loot the Pargrun Stash. Ascend the wooden scaffolding in the same room as the stash and jump across to exit through a hole in the wall. Continue climbing the cliff to find a bird nest containing the Golden Scale of Order.

In Paradis, ascend the steps leading into Hightown and look east. You’ll spot an inconspicuous balcony overlooking the market, which you can reach by climbing onto the garden patch and running along the wall.
Enter and go left through the webs (you may need Kai’s Avowed Companion power for this) then drop down into the room below. Defeat the Phantoms and collect the Golden Scale of Justice next to the collapsed bookshelf.

Make your way to Usher’s Hand on the east side of Paradis and jump into the small pool in the cave. Swim to the end and surface into a small dungeon-like area where you’ll find the Golden Plaque of Oaths. Alternatively, you can break the rusted metal grate covering the Totem piece with some frost damage.
“Beneath an amethyst light on high, this shining plaque draws sailors’ eyes.”
Head to the lighthouse at the southwest tip of Dawnshore and climb up. About halfway, you’ll notice a section of the wall on your right that’s been broken, revealing the lighthouse steps where the Golden Plaque of Promises rests.
“Atop the isle of wicked outlaws, flicker golden flames of glorious cause.”
This Totem piece is best collected while following the Precious Light side quest if you have it. Travel to Castol’s Folly, the island in the southeast corner of the Dawnshore map, and follow the paths leading higher up the island. Eventually, you’ll reach a ruined tower with a fire in front of it. To the left of this tower, there’s a path you can leap to that goes around a cliff and leads directly to the Golden Flames.
Each piece of the Totem of Rightful Rulership, aside from the core, grants a useful enhancement, making this Totem incredibly powerful overall – one significantly boosts two of your Avowed Attributes!

The Totem of Rightful Rulership isn’t the only one of its kind; the Avowed Totem of Defiance awaits assembly in Emerald Stair and beyond. However, you’ll need to explore other regions in Avowed to find these Totems and unlock their unique buffs, but remember, you can only activate one Totem at a time – some may better suit specific Avowed builds than others!
