The rollout of Deadlock’s Old Gods, New Blood has concluded, and the final hero, Apollo, has finally arrived. Valve has shared some impressive stats from the event, including the staggering number of votes cast during the hero selection process—one dedicated Celeste fan even logged an astonishing amount of hours to support their favorite character.

Old Gods, New Blood introduced six new heroes, released in a fan-voted order. Players earned votes by participating in matches, with additional votes awarded for their first win each day. According to Valve, a total of 60,776,963 votes were cast throughout the event.

One standout statistic reveals that the highest number of votes from a single player was 813, all for Celeste. Despite this player’s unwavering support, Celeste finished second-to-last, a result that, as estimated, required a minimum of 252 hours of gameplay over 19 days.

There are fans, there are stans, and then there are simps, and the Deadlock subreddit has already labeled this player accordingly.

In addition to the Celeste stats, Valve noted that “exactly 600 players had the foresight to vote only for the eventual winner each round,” and “the largest winning margin was Venator over Celeste at 11%.” That’s got to sting for anyone who dedicated over two weeks to their favorite unicorn character.

Deadlock matchmaking is so off-kilter that even Valve developers are finding themselves in the wrong lobbies: “Can you imagine playing a game and having no one to blame except yourself?”
