Sometimes, a film’s ending is all it takes to elevate it from mediocre to memorable. Many two-star films have gained an extra star thanks to a strong conclusion, and fans on Reddit have shared their thoughts on which movies fit this description.

When a user asked, “What movie had an ending that saved the whole film?” cinephiles eagerly shared their picks. One user mentioned The Others, stating, “Just when you think it’s a typical haunted house flick, it surprises you.” Another brought up Saw, noting, “While the writing and acting were lacking, the ending was epic and launched a massive franchise.”

A fan also highlighted Richard Gere’s courtroom drama, Primal Fear. “It starts as a solid but standard courtroom thriller. Good performances, decent tension, nothing groundbreaking. Then the ending hits, completely changing your perspective on everything you just watched.”

Then there’s the much-anticipated Terminator: Rise of the Machines. “The movie was decent, but a step down from T2,” one commenter said. “But that ending was unexpected. It’s one of the boldest conclusions in a major blockbuster.”

Other titles mentioned ranged from Doom to Vanilla Sky, Sorry To Bother You, and Split. One of the hottest takes was on The Sixth Sense, with a user stating, “It went from pretty dull to ‘oh my god, oh my god,’ in an instant.”
