When Avengers: Doomsday finally arrives, fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the MCU may have found its rhythm again. The journey since RDJ’s departure in Avengers: Endgame has been a bumpy ride, with even beloved characters facing challenges. One film that often comes up in discussions is Thor: Love and Thunder, which Chris Hemsworth himself has acknowledged could have been better. Fans have weighed in, noting that while the fourth Thor film had promise, it fell short due to the direction it took.

A fan on Reddit posed the question, “What are your honest thoughts on Thor: Love and Thunder? Does it deserve the backlash?” The responses were swift. “Combining the Mighty Thor and Godbutcher storylines was a bold move, but [director] Taika Waititi wasn’t the right fit for that vision,” one fan commented. “My main issue is that it felt like no one took it seriously, which Hemsworth kind of admitted later. They got too caught up in improv and humor without any restraint.”

Another fan echoed this sentiment, stating, “Exactly. It couldn’t decide if it was a horror flick or a slapstick comedy. It failed at both.” A different perspective emerged with, “In my opinion, it’s the worst thing modern Marvel has produced. A total waste of Bale’s talent. Too much of Waititi’s style. It’s one of the few MCU projects that truly deserves its negative reputation (Secret Invasion being another). Most others that get criticized are just mediocre, but Love and Thunder is genuinely bad.”

On a brighter note, some fans found enjoyment in it. “While I do think they wasted Christian Bale, I actually thought it was a fun movie.” We didn’t mind it either, to be honest.

Here’s hoping Thor’s next appearance in Avengers: Doomsday brings him back to the god-like form we all adore. In the meantime, there’s plenty of MCU action on the horizon, which you can stay updated on.
