While we still have over 18 months to wait for The Batman 2, co-writer Mattson Tomlin’s recent comments about the DC sequel might help pass the time.

“We worked exceptionally hard to craft a story worthy of the character. Something that feels fresh and thrilling. The expectations couldn’t be higher,” Tomlin shared on Twitter in response to a fan’s praise of the 2022 original.

Tomlin is eager for fans to engage in discussions about the events of the Matt Reeves-directed sequel.

“Looking forward to people seeing it and being able to talk about it extensively,” Tomlin noted. “I can’t express what this film means to me.”

Interestingly, there has been little official information about The Batman 2, with details about its plot and villains kept tightly under wraps.

However, there have been some surprising casting announcements recently, including Marvel stars joining the project. Notably, Sofia Falcone actor Cristin Milioti and Zoe Kravitz’s Selina Kyle are not expected to return.

James Gunn has also confirmed what many suspected – Robert Pattinson’s Batman in the Reeves-verse will not be part of the DC Universe.

Despite having two Batman films under his belt, Tomlin recently discussed the quiet cancellation of Terminator Zero, the anime series he developed for Netflix.

“The critical and audience reception was fantastic, but ultimately not enough people tuned in,” Tomlin stated.

The Batman 2 is set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027.
