No Man’s Sky’s recent Remnant update introduced a plethora of exciting features, including a gravity gun and a spider mech. However, for Switch players, the standout addition is the Voyagers update, which finally brings customizable ships to Nintendo’s previous-generation hardware.
Corvettes were initially introduced to No Man’s Sky last August, and with the latest Remnant upgrade, they are now available on the Switch as well. While it may have seemed like Switch users were overlooked, engine programmer Martin Griffiths clarified that the delay stemmed from a “difficult technical challenge” that the team has only recently overcome.
“No Man’s Sky Remnant now has Corvettes on Switch!” Griffiths announced on Twitter. “It was a tough technical challenge to optimize the engine so these could fit in memory and run smoothly. Sorry it took so long – we made it in the end! I’m super proud to have contributed to this.”
Fans are clearly thrilled. One user remarked, “I thought it wasn’t possible, but it runs great!” Another added, “I’m speechless; what you’re achieving with the Switch 1 is incredible. Congratulations and thank you!”
Most excitingly, this update opens the door for all kinds of creative ship designs on the Switch. When this feature first launched on other platforms, players quickly crafted everything from the Eye of Sauron from The Lord of the Rings to a space forklift and even a giant Nokia phone. I can’t wait to see what new and imaginative creations will emerge now that more players can join in.
