David Hayter Returns as Solid Snake in Rainbow Six

As part of its Year 11 roadmap, Rainbow Six Siege is set to receive an exciting Metal Gear Solid-themed update. The upcoming Season One: Operation Silent Hunt will introduce Solid Snake as a permanent Operator in the multiplayer shooter, with voice actor David Hayter returning to reprise his legendary role.

This announcement was made during the Rainbow Six Invitational event over the weekend, where details about the Year 11 roadmap were unveiled. Operation Silent Hunt is scheduled to launch on March 3, bringing significant balancing updates, anti-cheat enhancements, and more throughout the four seasons of content. The first update will center around Metal Gear Solid, featuring a new game mode and themed skins.

The highlight of this update is the inclusion of Solid Snake as a playable character, and Hayter’s return is a major win for Metal Gear Solid enthusiasts. He first voiced the character in 1998’s Metal Gear Solid and continued to lend his voice to various iterations of Snake until 2010’s Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. His iconic run came to an end with 2014’s Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and 2015’s Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, where Kiefer Sutherland took over the role.

In the years since, Hayter has made sporadic returns to the character, voicing both Solid Snake and Naked Snake in Super Bomberman R, and his previous lines were reused in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and last year’s Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. For Rainbow Six Siege, he will be delivering entirely new voice lines, adding fresh content to the game.

Additionally, the update will introduce a Metal Gear Solid-themed 4v4 Infiltration mode, where Snake and Zero will lead teams of Operators in a mission to recover stolen data. The 6v6 Dual Front mode will also receive a new mission called Last Assignment, which pays homage to the series. Players can expect new Metal Gear Solid skins, including ones that transform Jackal into Gray Fox and Ash into Meryl.

Future seasons will bring a Ranked 3.0 update, the new Calypso Casino map, mouse and keyboard support for consoles, and more.
