A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 5 has quickly become one of the highest-rated episodes in the Game of Thrones universe on IMDb.

Titled ‘In the Name of the Mother’, the episode debuted with a perfect score of 10 but currently holds a remarkable 9.8.

After a lighthearted start to the season, the tone shifted dramatically this week with the Trial of the Seven. Hedge knight Dunk faced trial by combat after a series of unfortunate Targaryen-related incidents (assaulting Prince Aerion and allegedly kidnapping his squire Egg, who turned out to be the missing Prince Aegon). Instead of a traditional one-on-one duel, Aerion chose a Trial by Seven, allowing both him and Dunk to select six allies for the fight.

The trial was intense and bloody, albeit on a smaller scale than the epic battles typically seen in the climactic episodes of Game of Thrones, but fans were thoroughly engaged.

‘In the Name of the Mother’ now ranks among the top five highest-rated episodes in the franchise. It shares its impressive IMDb score with ‘Hardhome’ (season 5 episode 8), while only ‘The Winds of Winter’ (season 6 episode 10) and ‘Battle of the Bastards’ (season 6 episode 9) surpass it with scores of 9.9. The highest-rated episode remains ‘The Rains of Castermere’ (season 3 episode 9) with a perfect 10. For House of the Dragon, the top-rated episode is ‘The Red Dragon and the Gold’ (season 2 episode 4) at 9.4.
