As fans eagerly await Stardew Valley’s long-anticipated 1.7 update and the upcoming Haunted Chocolatier, one player has found a hilariously unique way to pass the time—by sleeping for over 1,000 years in-game!

Reddit user “Holozard” recently shared their amusing achievement, stating they “slept for 1,000 years straight” in-game, complete with screenshots of the aftermath. Their farm, aptly named “Sleepwell Farm,” features a character humorously dubbed “Sleepy.” However, their funds are a mere 500 gold, as they seemingly snoozed from Spring, Year 1 to Spring, Year 1,000.

One screenshot reveals Sleepwell Farm completely overrun with massive mushrooms, trees, meteorites, and an overwhelming amount of weeds. Another shows the farm in winter, filled with stumps and a forager’s paradise near grandpa’s farm. And how are the chickens faring? Unsurprisingly, they’re “grumpy,” according to another screenshot.

So, how did Holozard pull this off? They explained, “Ran my switch for over three weeks straight (aside from the nine times it crashed), just running right into bed and hitting rest.” They used a controller with a turbo button to repeatedly press ‘A’ and a hair tie to keep their character walking automatically, which unfortunately led to some serious stick drift. They had the console running for “over 25 days”—impressive!

No wonder the load times were “so bad.” Reflecting on their 1,000-year slumber, Holozard noted, “I now have lots of cool purple rocks all over my farm and made almost half a million in mushrooms, so I’m happy.” What a creative way to boost your sleepy little farm! They could easily aim for another millennium, but who knows when Haunted Chocolatier will finally arrive?

As Holozard puts it, who needs a new game when you can experiment with Stardew Valley by *checks notes* sleeping for a thousand years? Their Switch might be in distress, but it’s a fun reminder that such feats are possible.

“I am not going to abandon Haunted Chocolatier,” says Stardew Valley’s Eric Barone: “I know, I shouldn’t have announced the game so early.”
