Embark Studios shares insights on the delay in banning cheaters in Arc Raiders.

Until it was patched last week, Arc Raiders faced a significant issue with a duplication glitch. This exploit enabled players to endlessly duplicate nearly any item in the game, quickly gaining popularity within the community. Several streamers, including one of the game’s prominent content creators, demonstrated how to execute the exploit. While some might see this as a way to raise awareness for a quicker fix, others view it as encouraging a large audience to exploit the game themselves.

Embark Studios has now begun to take action against those who exploited the glitch for personal gain. In an official blog post, the team recognized the community’s “desire for fast action,” but emphasized their commitment to acting with “fairness and accuracy.” Consequently, they can only proceed with actions that they can “define, prove, and stand behind.” This process includes “validating reports against data; confirming exploit usage, scope, and effect; distinguishing between accidental behavior and intentional abuse; and evaluating the measurable impact on the economy and competitive integrity.”

The delay in addressing the issue stemmed from the fact that this was the first time they had “handled an incident of this nature at such scale in Arc Raiders.” Instead of rushing, they opted to take the necessary time to fully grasp the situation and ensure their response aligned with their values and expectations.

Regarding penalties for those found guilty, three tiers of consequences have been outlined, with the note that these are not the only measures they may implement.

The post concludes by expressing hope that this response lays the groundwork for future actions, and as a result of this process, they have enhanced their “detection and tracking, internal review tools, and safeguards to limit the impact of similar exploits.” If you come across any exploits in the future, you can report them through the official Discord server.
