It’s been nearly a year since Bethesda Game Studios launched the highly anticipated remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, yet players are still up to their usual antics—like attempting to snag a certain set of armor.
A fan known as “Scylax_Vitarrn” gained attention on Reddit with a series of entertaining threads where they follow a guard named “Pally” in hopes of acquiring the Imperial Watch Armor. It’s been quite a journey since their first post, which appeared a staggering 10 months ago, and Scylax_Vitarrn has now reached day 300 of this quest, making it more thrilling than ever.
In their latest update, Scylax_Vitarrn shares, “Pally’s armor had finally broken, but his spirit stays strong.” This means we finally get a glimpse of the palace guard they’ve been pursuing—at least, his face. The accompanying images are quite amusing, showing “Pally” in a graveyard, helmet off, with a classic Oblivion-style expression. It’s hard not to love it.
So, how did Scylax_Vitarrn manage to reveal the guard? Apparently, “He lost his helmet in this latest gate.” But there’s no need to worry. “Pally can still smile after losing his armor,” as the Redditor puts it. “I reassured him that when it’s all over, we’ll try to fix it. Armor is meant to protect the one wearing it. As long as we have Pally, there won’t be anything to stop us. Dagon lost another gate, and soon he’ll lose the war.”
They continue with a rallying cry: “We shall remain strong no matter the cost! Remember the Emperor! Hail citizens. 300 days and nearly as many trials for our journey. There may be yet another 300 to go! I hope all of you have enjoyed this journey so far, and please, if you think something is missing or lacking, let me know. If there’s anything positive you like, let’s hear that too! I want this to be for all of us. Then we can all destroy Dagon in style!”
It’s heartwarming to see the Elder Scrolls community rallying around Scylax_Vitarrn on this adventure—though they could easily head to Nexus Mods for the armor they desire instantly… but where’s the fun in that?
