TeamSpeak has announced that it has hit its “current hosting capacity” in several regions, including the US, due to a significant influx of new users. This news follows a recent announcement from its competitor regarding a new age verification policy.
In a post on Twitter, TeamSpeak stated, “With the incredible surge of new users joining TeamSpeak and subscribing to communities, current hosting capacity has been reached in many regions, especially in the United States. We’re working on expanding availability across additional regions. Thank you for your patience as we scale to meet the growing demand!”
TeamSpeak emerged as a competitor to Discord at the beginning of 2025, as many Discord users sought alternatives due to various changes, including the unpopular push for its paid Nitro subscription.
Earlier this month, Discord revealed plans to implement age verification to “change certain settings or access sensitive content.” Users will be set to ‘teen’ by default and will need to upload their ID to access specific features. This announcement came just months after a data breach in October 2025, where 70,000 users’ government IDs uploaded for age verification were leaked.
TeamSpeak promotes itself as a private platform where users don’t need to upload personal information. However, it’s important to note that subscribing to a paid community server will require users to provide credit card information, which can also serve for age verification.
Discord will age-lock your account next month, requiring ID submission or a face scan to unlock it—just four months after experiencing a third-party data breach.
