Team Liquid Joins Forces with Sunderland AFC for ePremier League Collaboration

International esports organization Team Liquid has joined forces with English football club Sunderland AFC to compete in the ePremier League for EA Sports FC, as announced on Friday.

While the financial details of this partnership remain under wraps, it promises to be an exciting collaboration. Team Liquid’s EA Sports FC players, Paulo Neto and Gabriel “Young” Freitas, will represent both Sunderland AFC and Team Liquid in the UK’s EA FC tournament circuit.

During the event, they will don a “special edition Team Liquid x Sunderland AFC jersey” as they vie for a share of the £100,000 (approximately $135,000 USD) prize pool and aim for qualification in the eChampions League and the FC Pro World Championship.

David Bruce, Chief Business Officer of Sunderland AFC, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Our collaboration with Team Liquid marks an exciting step in Sunderland AFC’s commitment to innovation and global engagement. This partnership allows us to represent the Club in a rapidly growing competitive space while engaging with a new generation of supporters. Paulo and Young are exceptional talents, and we look forward to seeing what we can achieve together in the ePremier League.”

The Team Liquid x Sunderland AFC duo will make their debut on February 28, when the ePremier League kicks off its eighth season. The group stage will feature 40 players from 20 teams competing in round-robin matches to secure spots in the knockout bracket playoffs.
