Lego Unveils Upcoming Mario Minifigure Release
Mamma mia, older Lego fans can finally rejoice as Nintendo has confirmed that a Lego minifigure of Mario is on the way! This exciting new figure is set to launch in 2027, alongside fresh sets that are likely to be separate from the popular electronic Mario playsets we’ve seen in recent years.
On March 10, Nintendo’s official account shared a brief teaser video showcasing a Mario minifigure emerging from one of the franchise’s iconic green pipes. The tweet announced, “New form unlocked! New sets coming in 2027.”
Lego has been crafting Mario-themed sets since 2020, and for nearly six years, most of these have been tied to the successful interactive Super Mario theme. The line kicked off with a blocky, brick-built Mario featuring a small screen and sensors, allowing him to respond to various Lego bricks and pieces. This innovative concept enabled kids to create their own Mario levels using different official sets. Over time, Lego introduced more interactive characters, including Peach and Luigi, which was a fantastic addition.
However, despite the popularity of these interactive playsets and other Mario-themed sets, many long-time Nintendo and Lego enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting a minifigure version of Mario. That wish will finally be fulfilled in 2027.
Developing story…
