Pokémon Pokopia Tops Sales Charts for Switch 2

Pokémon Pokopia has only been out for a week, yet it’s already making waves as one of the top-selling titles on the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo recently revealed that the spinoff has sold over 2.2 million copies within its first four days, with a remarkable 1 million of those sales coming from Japan alone.

This impressive figure places it as the fourth-best-selling game on the Switch 2, trailing behind Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (3.89 million), Donkey Kong Bananza (4.25 million), and the ever-popular Mario Kart World (14.03 million). Kirby Air Riders rounds out the top five with 1.76 million copies sold. However, it’s worth noting that the sales data for the other titles extends through the end of 2025, which means Kirby Air Riders could potentially surpass Pokopia’s 2.2 million if its 2026 sales are included. Regardless, being in the top five is a significant achievement for Pokopia.

Nintendo Switch 2 owners have been treated to a steady stream of first-party titles since the console’s launch. Each month has brought something new, whether it’s full games like December’s Metroid Prime 4 and February’s Mario Tennis Fever or expansions for existing favorites, such as August’s upgrade for Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

Pokémon Pokopia has also performed well compared to other Pokémon spinoffs. As noted by Joe Merrick, a prominent figure in the Pokémon community, Pokopia is one of 13 spinoffs to surpass two million copies sold, a notable feat considering the numerous spinoffs released over the series’ nine generations.

Physical copies of Pokopia were briefly sold out, prompting Amazon to raise the price to $80 at one point. However, it’s now back in stock at major retailers and listed at $69.99 on Amazon as of now. The game’s success has even led to a reported 10% increase in Nintendo’s stock value.

Both players and critics are raving about Pokémon Pokopia, making it one of the best-reviewed games on the Switch 2, currently holding an impressive score of 89 on both OpenCritic and Metacritic.
