Prepare for Major Updates on Starfield’s Future!

Will Starfield 2.0 finally address the game’s cumbersome and confusing fast-travel system? What kind of upheaval can we expect at Warner Bros. Games once the Paramount deal wraps up? And when will Atlus finally unveil Persona 6? Here’s the latest scoop in the gaming world.

I just returned from an eye-opening week at the 2026 GDC “Festival of Gaming.” It’s a strange time for the industry, with attendance dropping by a staggering 30 percent. The future is uncertain, but innovative creators are still crafting intriguing games. I had the chance to try out several of them, and I’ll be sharing insights and interviews throughout the week. In the meantime, I got a sneak peek at what Gaming Copilot will look like on Xbox Series X/S.

A PS5 port is reportedly set to launch in April, and while some media and influencers who aren’t still on Bethesda’s blacklist from a decade-old article recently got a behind-the-scenes look at the studio’s Maryland office, director Todd Howard has been careful to temper expectations. He insists it’s not a full 2.0 reboot, but I’m sure there will be plenty of exciting tweaks and hopefully some new story DLC for this 2023 hit.

Composer Inon Zur recently mentioned that Howard is a visionary who “sees things that people will start to find out years later.” However, Bethesda has once again tried to manage the hype. “We ran this by Todd, and he said his only visionary power is seeing running lanes in EA College Football 26,” the studio quipped. “He appreciates all the passionate feedback on Starfield, and we’ll have more to share next week.”

Last week, developers from Gotham Knights studio Warner Bros. Montreal reported layoffs, as noted by an outlet. While these cuts were likely planned before Paramount’s recent acquisition, the entire gaming division is expected to face some harsh budget adjustments in the coming year.

“We were in the books of Warner Bros., and the biggest cost centers are people in productions,” Ted Sarandon stated earlier this month. “There’ll be cuts in excess of $16 billion. They are informing lenders that this will happen in about 18 months.”

Additionally, overtime hours are being capped at a maximum of 20 per week, down from 30. “We believe that to deliver inspiring experiences to our users, it is essential to foster creativity and improve productivity for every employee, and therefore, we consider investment in human resources to be indispensable,” the Persona studio noted in a press release.

They added, “Even amidst fluctuations in external factors such as rising prices, we will continue to support our employees in maintaining stable lives and create an environment where they can work with greater peace of mind. As part of these efforts, we will revise our compensation system starting in April 2026.”

The enhanced version of PSSRis is rolling out for some of the biggest PS5 titles. Notable games benefiting from this update, which aims to improve upscaling resolution, include Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Alan Wake 2, the Silent Hill 2 remake, Monster Hunter Wilds, Nioh 3, and Crimson Desert. It might not be enough to justify a PS5 Pro purchase just yet, but it’s a nice bonus for those who already own one.

The production has announced that Noomi Rapace (Prometheus), Ramzy Bedia (Haunted Minds), Sean Harris (Mission: Impossible), and Corrado Invernizzi (Ford v. Ferrari) have joined the cast. The only familiar name to me is Harris, who portrayed Solomon Lane alongside Tom Cruise in several MI films. The show is being pitched as a historical drama, but there’s no release date available yet.
