Bethesda Unveils Exciting New Details About Starfield

Another day, another round of speculation about The Elder Scrolls 6, which we know is the sixth installment in the series. Meanwhile, Bethesda had a packed news day recently, but all the spotlight was on Starfield, their 2023 action-RPG that explores just how much gear one daring astronaut can cram into a single spaceship.

Here’s a rundown of the key Starfield announcements that will take effect on April 7.

After two and a half years of being exclusive to Xbox, Starfield is finally making its way to PlayStation 5. This follows the trend set by another Bethesda title, which also launched on Xbox Series X before arriving on PS5, though that transition was much quicker—just about a year.

The standard edition of Starfield will now retail for $49.99, a drop from its previous price of $69.99. The premium edition, which was originally $99.99, is now priced at $69.99 and will include both story expansions: 2024’s Shattered Space and 2026’s Terran Armada, which was also just announced.

The Terran Armada expansion is designed to respond to feedback regarding Shattered Space, which some players felt was too limited, focusing on a single planet and not delivering enough value for its initial $29.99 price tag. Priced at $9.99 if purchased separately, Terran Armada features an invading force commanding an army of robots and spans the Settled Systems.

The most significant update for Starfield is the free Free Lanes update, touted as the game’s largest since its launch. This update allows players to navigate seamlessly between planets within a star system, addressing a major concern from the base game. Additionally, it overhauls crafting and fast travel systems, introduces more party members from both existing and new NPCs, and adds a new ground vehicle. Plus, players can earn a Bond villain-style asteroid base.
